How is Lyme disease treated?

A

Very sensitive to treatment with tetracyclines, most penicillins, second-and-third generation cephalosporins, less so to macrocodes.
Doxycycline 100 mg PO twice daily, or amoxicillin 500 mg thrice daily for 10 to 21 days.
More severe manifestations may require alternate treatment.

How is TB treated?

A

Because of the high likelihood of drug resistant TB, patients are typically started on 4-drug therapy with isoniazid, rifampin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutamol.
Directly observed therapy (DOT) is the standard of care.
Therapy is usually 6 months or longer.
