A

With Germany on 28 June 1919

  • army: 100,000 soldiers, six battleships, no air force
  • reparations: 132 billion gold marks
  • land: lost to Posen, Alsace-Lorraine, all colonies (Poland, Estona and Lithuania made)
  • guilt clause: Clause 231- all blame to Germany

The Treaty of Saint Germain

A

With Austria on 10 September 1919

  • army: 30,000 volunteers, no navy
  • reparations: agreed but not set
  • land: Austrian-Hungarian Empire dismantled, Tyrol to Italy (Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia made)
  • only 25% of old Empire, with 20% of population
  • forbidden to join Germany (even they spoke German)

With Hungary on 4 June 1920

  • army: 35,000 volunteers, three patrol boats
  • reparations: 200 million gold crowns
  • land: A-H E was dismantled (Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia made)
  • lost 75% of land

Wilson’s 14 Points

A
  • idealistic
  • France and Britain did not approve
  • only thing to come out of it was the League of Nations
  • it tired to prevent conflicts but failed because it had no power and the nations were loyal to their own nations
  • significant countries left out of it (US, Germany, Russia)
