  • It is completely unaware of the morbid situation it has encountered, and expects to receive attention and to be played with: the irony is rather terrifying.
  • Furthermore, the fact that it licked the prisoners face out of anyone obviously highlights Orwell’s beliefs that no matter the actions of a human, everyone is equal
