Trash Pandamonium Flashcards
Scout: Come on, I think Ringo went this way. Follow me!
Scout, I’m not sure if we should be here without Ranger Theodore… Remember what he told us-
Scout: I know, I know. We aren’t supposed to be here without her permission. But we gotta find Ringo. I’m sure Ranger Theodore would understand. Ringo? Ringo?? Bandit, come help!
Ringooooo?? Ringo, where are you?
Scout: Oh! Hey there! Sorry to interrupt your camping trip. We were just looking for our friend… Bandit can be a little nervous sometimes. Don’t worry; I think these friends may be able to help. Do you mind helping us? Wait- do you know Ranger Theodore? You do? Are you… Junior Rangers by any chance?
What an honor! I’m so glad we have Junior Rangers here to help us! Any friend of Ranger Theodore’s is a friend of ours!
Scout: Thank you for your service, Junior Rangers! Now for the task at hand- have you seen our friend Ringo? I know! Let’s play a game to find Ringo: Hot and cold! Here are the rules, when I’m close to Ringo, I want you all to say “hot!” but when I’m getting far away from Ringo, you say “cold!” Let’s do it. (adlib)
We did it! We found Ringo! Ringo’s sleeping! But Scout, how are we gonna wake Ringo up?
Scout: This could be tough. Ringo REALLY loves to sleep. Let’s see… WAKE UP!! Do you have another idea?
Hmmmm. Oh no, that didn’t work either! What else should we try?
Scout: I know! Ringo loves music! Maybe we can sing a song to wake Ringo up@
Yes! That’s a great idea! Singing is much nicer than shouting or poking our friends while they’re trying to sleep. What should Ringo’s special wake-up song be?
Scout: Well, every good song has a beat, right?
Hmmmm. That was pretty loud, but it didn’t wake Ringo up. Can any of you tell me what the opposite of loud is?… That’s right, quiet! Maybe something quieter would work!
Scout: Good idea, let’s try a song that’s nice and quiet. Okay, fellow musicians! We’re going to need your help for Ringo’s wake-up song. Can you all pat your laps like this? … Great!
You guys sound so good! I just know this is going to work! Are we ready to try it?
Scout: When we say a line, you repeat that line, okay? Let’s give it a try!
WAKE UP RINGO, TIME TO RISE
THE SUN IS PEEKING THROUGH THE SKIES
WAKE UP RINGO TIME TO PLAY
SO STRETCH AND YAWN AND START YOUR DAY
Again! A little louder!
WAKE UP RINGO TIME TO RISE
THE SUN IS PEEKING THROUGH THE SKIES
WAKE UP RINGO TIME TO PLAY
SO STRETCH AND YAWN AND START YOUR DAY
Scout: That’s cool, Ringo!
Okay, guys, I’m glad we found Ringo, but I still don’t think we should be here without the Ranger… Scout! Ringo!
Scout: Sorry, we couldn’t hear you over the sound of our awesome music! Did you say something?
I SAID we should probably get out of here! Besides, you weren’t REALLY playing music, you were using those… pointy… people things… for music, but that’s not what they’re really for.
Ringo: deflated chirp
Can any of you tell my friends what these are for?
Ohhhhh… marnmalloos! I think the Junior Rangers are right! Sometimes I see campers using these… stick thingies… like this. For cooking their marnmalloos! So they can eat them! Humans LOVE these things.
Ringo no, wait! We aren’t supposed to eat people food!
Scout: You really should try this! It’s delicious!
The Ranger says we shouldn’t-
Scout: Ranger Theodore eats these all the time! You look like a bunny.
Ewww… okay, that’s enough of these.
Scout: Maybe we could just have one more..
No! We aren’t supposed to be here and we DEFINITELY aren’t supposed to be eating people food. I wish you would listen to me.
Scout: You’re right, Bandit. You were looking out for us, but we were having too much fun and didn’t listen.
I like having fun too, but we have to be careful! I’m just trying to keep us safe and out of trouble.
Scout: No, no, I’m sorry, you’re right. No more marnmalloos, no matter how delicious they may be.
It’s okay. Thank you for saying sorry. I didn’t mean to ruin your fun… what do they taste like?
Scout: Look, Bandit! I think Ringo wants to keep playing!
But the Junior Rangers just told us the marnmalloo stick is for food, not for music!
Scout: … We can use our imaginations to use things in new ways, or go to new places… to meet new friends… or try new things!
Playing pretend! Cool! I had no idea. That really was a lot of fun. I can see why you wanted to keep playing.
Scout: Bandit, you go first this time! What’s something else we could pretend to do with the umbrella?
Um, I’m not sure… I don’t really know what to do.
Scout: Oh! Yes! What if you use it to BE something?
Be something?
Scout: Yeah! Like a queen! Or Ranger Theodore!
Umm… I guess I could be… a… turtle?
