Transportation- "Let's Go" Flashcards
Friction
Resistance to motion caused by the rubbing of one surface against another surface.
Jet propulsion
The force of expanding air or gases rushing out of a rear opening causes an object, such as a rocket or a plane,to move forward
Internal combustion
In an internal combustion engine, such as if found in an automobile, fuel and air mix and explode within the cylinders to cause the engine to run.
Steam
Vapor from boiling water. It can be used to run steam engines
Explain how a steam engine works
Water is boiled In a large enclosed tank called a boiler.
The boiler has one or more pipes leading out of it.
The steam pushes through them with great force.
Which can either strike a metal cylinder called a piston or strike a wheel that has metal blades around its rim. This turns the wheel, which is called a turbine
Who invented the diesel engine
Rudolf diesel
