transport system in organism Flashcards
A transport system is important to?
multicellular organism to ensure the support of life in cells.
In each cell, there must have…?
nutrients and oxygen
plants need nutrients which is..?
water and minerals salt
What is root hair
a long outgrowth of a root hair cell
What does the vacuole in a root hair contain?
cell sap which has a high concentration of minerals salts dissolved in water.
What does the xylem tissue consist of?
long tubes or vessels that pass from the roots to the leaves. The xylem tissue is able to transport water and minerals salts from the roots to the leaves.
(water carrying tube)
What is phloem tissue?
It transport food such as sugar, produced in the leaves to the other part of the plant. (food carrying tube)
What will happen if the phloem tissue is remove?
Food will not be able to reach the roots and causing that are to swell.
What is diffusion?
The movement of molecules from a region of higher concentation to lower concentration.
What is another example of diffusion?
exchange of gases during photosynthesis
What is the solution of the concentration?
the amount of solute per unit volume of the solution.
What is osmosis?
The movement of water molecules from a region of higher concentration to lower concentration through a partially permeable membrane.
What does blood contains?
oxygen and nutrients.
What are the circulatory system?
heart,blood vessels and blood
what is 3 types of blood vessels?
arteries,veins,capillaries
What is veins?
carried blood towards our heart.
What is arteries?
carries blood away from the heart
What is capillaries?
tiny blood vessels that connets the arteries to the veins.
What are types of blood?
plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets
What does plasma contains
It contains mainly water.
What is the function of plasma?
- To tranport digested food from the small intestine to the other parts of the body
- To remove carbon dioxide and other waste substances produced in body cells.
- To transport other substances such as hormones.
What is the shape of red blood cells?
biconcave
Why does the red blood cells is shape like biconcave?
It increases the surface area of the cells.
