Q

What is a open circulatory system?

A

Found in invertebrates
The transport medium (haemolymph) is not carried in blood vessels and is pumped directly in to the body cavity (haemocel)
The haemolymph transport nutrients and waste, but not gases which are transported by the tracheal system
Once exchange has taken place at the cells, the haemolymph returns to the heart.
