What is it
A
Evaporation of water from a leaf

Why?
A
Plants need CO2. Stomata therefore need to open. Allows CO2 in. Water builds up as it evaporates and you will gain a CONCENTRATION GRADIENT and it will move down this

What’s it’s 2 uses?
A
Transport minerals to the rest of the plant
Loss allows movement of these minerals and transport reduces the temperature

Why does water flow up the tree?
A
Gains energy as it moves up and pressure causes it to rise
Hydrogen bonding allows water molecules to stick together

Why does a plant allow so much water to be lost
A
Because CO2 is necessary and the process causes it to be lost

No ATP does not need to be made for this
