Range shift
When button is moved up it blocks incoming air that is moving rod in slave valve and exhausts air already there. Once the actuating pin is released the rod moves to centre and the air in low side is released and air is then applied to high side

Is forced into slave valve by air valve shaft every time one of the ship rails is in a position other then neutral
What are 2 types of air hose used in shift mechanism?

Splitter shift
Has air on high side (small area) at all times. When high split is selected the air coming to low side (large area) is blocked and exhausted the high air pushes cylinder. Air to signal the large area air is sent from the master control valve via the SP line.

Contains the electronic control unit, has console that allows for operator input (brains of system)

display to provide info to the operator
Auto shift, transmission controller
Is responsible for all of the transmission shifting operations. Receives info from the shift controller and directs output devices what to do. (think of as a output control module)
Auto shift, Main section electric shift assembly
Responsible for main section shifting. done by use of 2 reversible DC motors, 1 for rail selection, 1 for gear selection. Has two position sensor to monitor finger location
Auto shift, inertia brake
Used to increase the rate of deceleration. When coil is energized the one half of ball ramp slows, the other half attached to clutch pack starts to walk up ramp squeezing clutch pack to slow countershaft, and input shaft
Auto shift, speed sensors
Input speed - taken off upper pto gear and mounted in the front of shift bar housing
Main shaft speed - taken off aux countershaft and mounted in the rear of the shift bar housing
Output speed - taken off output shaft and mounted in rear bearing housing
