Translational Motion Flashcards

Uniformly Accelerated Motion
Average Velocity
It means that acceleration is constant. This meaning that velocity is varying with respect to time.
x*= xo + vot + 1/2at2 * = distance = (x - xo)
v = vo + at
v2 = vo2 + 2a(x - xo)
Average velocity
vavg= 1/2(v + v0)
Prefixes for SI Units

Speed
Velocity
Acceleration
Speed = distance/time
Velocity = displacement/time
Acceleration = change in velocity/time
Projectile Motion Chart
- Vertical Velocity alone dictates the time of flight.
- The Range(horizonal distance) is the horizonal velocity times the time of flight.
- Symmetry helps solve problem. If we use only the second half of the trip, vertical vo will always equal zero, making calculations easier.
- In the absense of air resistance, mass does not affect projectile motion.

Sproduct = V1V2cosø
