Translation Flashcards
What it translation
The processing of the locked code in the mRNA strand to form a specific amino acid in the sequence of making a protein
Part 1
Single mRNA strand formed in the nucleus attaches to the ribosome
Part 2
mRNA now provides the code for the linking of amino acid to form specific proteins
Part 3
tRNA occurs in the cytoplasm and picks up amino acids in cytoplasm and brings them to the ribosome
Part 4
Each tRNA has 3 exposed nitrogenous bases known as anti codon on one loop
Part 5
The anti codon determins which amino acid bonds with tRNA
Part 6
Specific tRNA brings amino acid which is coded to the mRNA template
Part 7
Codon determins which anticodon of tRNA will correspond
Part 8
Codon and anti codon are now complementary
Part 9
Amino acids join in a sequence as they are fixed next to each other to form a polypeptide chain
Part 10
As soon as the tRNA places the amino acid in correct sequence the amino acid forms a peptide bond and the tRNA separates from amino acid and moves away from ribosomes
11
tRNA is ready to pick up another amino acid anf it forms 50+ amino acids and a protein is formed
