A

A

You must be in two way radio contact with the other aircraft at all times.
All aircraft should monitor VHF guard on Com 1.

A

All following heights relate to AGL if over ground or AMSL if over sea.

Solo student: 10,000ft.

QFI: 5000ft
[8000ft if not current]

If over a calm sea and there is less than 4/8ths cloud cover: 10,000ft.

All aircraft should be on local RPS.

A

1000ft height separation required between elements within 10nm of each other

A

1000ft bubble to be maintained at all times.

When closing for guns behind the 3/9 line. Here the MSR is 500ft.

State the training rules relating to Minimum Break Out Range.

A

MBOR is as required to achieve MSR.

2 specific cases:

Front Sector Missile Attack, MBOR = 9000ft/ 1.5nm.

Guns behind the 3/9 line, MBOR = 900ft (assuming 50kts overtake.
If overtake >50kts, MBOR will be greater.

State the training rules relating to Safety.

A

Collision avoidance is everyone’s responsibility.

No front sector (>135 TASP) gun attacks.

If SA lost: Break off the engagement, terminate fight and ensure height separation.

Avoid crossing flight paths.

Flat scissors: call intentions early.

Make a ballistic advisory call if going uncontrollably below 100kts.

“Breakout + direction” is an executive call.

[Loss of Tally: call No Joy

Hostile into sun should remain predictable].

A

Minimum speed: 100kts.
If speed falls uncontrollably below this, call Ballistic or Breakout and perform low speed recovery drill.

Spin/ departure/ loss of control drill:

Idle
Centralise
Recover
Engine response check.

If still out of control at or below 5000ft: Eject.
