Clicker training

A

First use classical conditioning
Click first, offer treat
Once link is established
Randomly increase the period between click and food.
Establishes click as equivalent to food.
This will allow you to reward at a _distance__
Then use operant conditioning to teach desired behaviour.
As soon as desired behavior performed, CLICK
Then give food rewards as soon as possible.
When dog next approaches you
Once behavior established
Intermittent food reward will make it more permanent.
Can also shape by rewarding the best examples of the behaviour
