Popular Music
☆Popular music means “music of the populace”.
☆ Developed in the 20th century, pop music is generally comprised of music
for the entertainment of a large audience, whether on radio or in live performances.
Apala (Akpala)

Marabi
It is a three-chord township music of the 1930s-1960s, which evolved into African jazz in South Africa.
It uses a simple chord in varying vamping patterns
with repetitive harmony over an extended period.
Juju
It is a musical style is from Nigeria, and it depends
on the traditional Yoruba rhythms.
The instruments used are more Western in origin,
and those instruments are drum kits, keyboard, pedal steel guitar, and accordion are used along with
the traditional dun-dun (talking drum or squeeze
drum).
Kwassa kwassa
It is a dance style began in Zaire (late 1980).
Kanda Bongo makes it popular.
The hips movement back and forth while arms follow
the hip movements is much noticeable in this style
