Q

Which areas are labelled on a trade creation diagram?

A

1,2,3&4 all between Sworld & Sworld+T
1=Quadrilateral to the left of Sdom
2= Triangle between Sdom & left of Q2 (up to where Sdom=Sworld+T
3= Rectangle between Q2 &Q3 (Q’s that both go up to where Sworld+T= Sdom & D)
4= Triangle between Sworld & right of Q3 (goes to where D=Sworld+T)

Q

What is a quota?

A

A limit on the amount of imports of a product a country can receive, but is guaranteed

17
Q

What does a quota do on a diagram?

A

Shift S dom right, to get S total.

18
Q

How do you work out if there has been an overall economic welfare gain/loss in a trade creation/diversion or quota diagtram?

A

Calculate what areas have been lost & gained
See whether more has been gained or lost

19
Q

What areas are labelled in a quota diagram?

A

A= Quad from Pw along Sw to Sdom up to Pwq=Q3
B=Triangle inside Sdom, Q3 & Sw
C= Square inside Pwq, Q3, Q4 & Sw
D= Triangle inside Q4, Sw & Ddom

20
Q

What is each point on a quota diagrams quantity axis labelled as? (left to right)

A

Q1, Q3, Q4 & Q2
