Pre-Formalities

A
  1. Receive AWC from issuing person(s).
  2. Ensure all staff, tools and equipment are provided.
  3. Liaise with track operatives.
  4. Book in with CSS.
  5. Book adequate protection from
    Line Controller
  6. Call Asset Control Centre and provide them with scope of work, location and estimated finish time.
  7. Inform signaller of area of work and request control of the site.

Pre Rerail

A
  1. Prove meter on known source.
  2. Remove R and Q fuse and adjacent R fuses.
  3. Make a note of track connections and disconnect.

After Re-Rail

A
  1. Check continuity of IBJs on ohms.
  2. Replace R fuses of adjacent tracks.

Ballast Leakage Test:

  1. Extraneous Voltage Test
    - <0.5v if above lift Q1. If still above escalate to DSIM.
  2. Induced Loop Test
    - Apply dead short at T-End
    - <0.2v if above lift Q1. If still above escalate to DSIM.
  3. Reinstate R and Q fuse.
  4. Q1 - Earth test = 100v
  5. Q2 break test
    - observe TR fully de-energise and 6 front contacts break.
  6. Cap in section
    - O/p of cap to earth = Track Volts
    - Top links all on section
  7. TR-GR if any (break Q1 on GR) and watch TR fully de-energise and 6 front contacts break.
  8. Relay energisation.
  9. Opposition
    - V1 + V2 = V3 (Highest value of V1 or V2)
  10. 1 ohm shunt track at extremities and mid, 1m over points.
  11. Re-gauge any equipment within the track.

Post Formalities

A
  1. Clear up site.
  2. Ensure all staff and equipment are of site and give up protection with line controller.
  3. Give back control of site to Signaller/Control Room TO. Inform manger of completed works.
  4. Check all signals have cleared.
  5. Control movement of trains until proved to shunt.
  6. Clear AWC with ACC.
