A

This act targets hackers and people who make viruses. It is mainly focused on preventing unauthorised access to systems where people may try to access a system to do harm.

OFFENCES OF THE COMPUTER MISS-USE ACT ARE:

  1. gaining an authorised access to the system.
  2. Gaining unauthorised access with the intention to cause harm.
  3. Gaining unauthorised data with the intention of altering content

A

This act is aimed at preventing piracy

It protects the rights of the naked of software, photos, music and films.

Therefore, if you use something created by someone else without their legal permission, it is now illegal due to this act.

  2. Copying or downloading music illegally
  3. Copying images of photographs from the web
  4. Copying text from webpages and using it in your work or posting it onto your website and pretending it’s your own.

FAST (the federation against software theft)

A

Was founded in 1984 by the software industry and is now supported by over 1,200 companies. It is not for profit organisation with an aim to prevent software piracy and has a policy of prosecuting anyone found to be breaching copyright law.

The organisation also works to educate the public about good software practice and legal requirements.

Things like preventing illegal copying or downloading of music, sharing a game with your friends even though you only have one license for it etc.

A

This act gives people the right to see data that is stored about them by public sector organisations such as the government or local councils é.g. Personal data
