What is Auscultation?
The use of a stethoscope to listen to sounds produced by the functions of the respiratory, circulatory, and digestive systems
What is Bradycardia?
A decreased pulse rate commonly seen wit electrolyte imbalances or heart disease
What is Cyanosis?
A bluish discoloration of the skin, results from inadequate oxygen concentrations in the blood
What is Dyspnea?
Difficulty breathing, characterized by rapid shallow breaths and abdominal effort
What is Eupnea?
Normal breathing
What is Gastrointestinal?
Term to describe the stomach and intestines as one unit
What is a Murmur
Any abnormal heart sound cause by improper blood flow through the heart
What is a Palpation?
Using touch to determine the character of deeper, underlying body structures; going in through the back.
What is Tachypnea?
Rapid breathing
What is a Otoscope?
Instrument used to look inside the ear
What is a Ophthalmoscope?
Instrument used to examine the inside eye
What is Tachycardia?
An increased pulse rate seen often with fear, pain, exercise, and certain heart diseases
What does the acronym TPR stand for?
Temperature Pulse Respiration
What does the acronym MM stand for and how do you do it?
Mucus membrane, by pressing agains the animals gums and checking to see if it comes back up
What does the acronym CRT stand for and how do you answer it?
Capillary refill time, how long it takes for the gums of the animal to refill
