Mercury Poisoning treatment?
Chelation with dimercaperol, penicillamine
Cyanide Poisoning: Sx and Tx?
Breath of bitter almonds, metabolic acidosis
Tx with Amyl Nitrite AND Thiosulfate
House fires, nitroprusside
Lead Poisoning: Sx and Tx?
Neuropathy, renal failure, microcytic anemia. 5mg/dl=toxic level
Tx: Chelate with EDTA, Succimer or Dimercaprol
Arsenic Poisoning: Sx and Tx?
Garlic breath, HA, diarrhea , and pain
Tx: Chelate with Succimer or Dimercaperol
Salicylate toxicity presentation?
Resp. alkalosis and metabolic acidosis, hyperthermia, tinnitus. N/V, AMS
Tx of salicylate toxicity?
If not yet digested, activated charcoal. Use sodium bicarb
Symptoms and tx of milk-alkali syndrome?
Hypercalcemia, short QT, acute renal failure. Can tx with loop diuretics or dialysis.
Methanol or Ethylene glycol poisoning tx?
Fomepizole
Methanol poisoning symptoms?
Sedation, inebriation. Late damage to retina and basal ganglia
TCA OD Sx and tx?
Symptoms: Anti-cholinergic (dry, hot, mad)
Tx: Na Bicarb
Mg SO4 toxicity presentation & Tx?
Tox: decreased DTR’s respiratory distress, hyperkalemia
Tx: Ca gluconate
