37% MAC
Do not tow without what installed in the steering metering valve?
steering bypass key
When can you tow an aircraft with flat or underinflated tires?
when clearing a runway or taxiway that needs to be expedited
To clear a runway or taxiway, the aircraft may be towed with how many blown tires?
You may tow with one or two blown tires on the main gear. Limit speeds to 3-5 mph regardless of the positions of the blown tires.
What is the maximum towing speed?
Towing speed will not exced that of walking team members. Maximum towing speed is 5 mph.
When can a tow team supervisor ride in a tow tractor?
when the aircraft is being towed on taxiways where established taxi lines are marked and adquate clearance available
What tow bar is approved for use?
tow bar F71136-500 only
What could result if using a non-approved tow bar such as a universal or 707 tow bar?
Damage to the nose landing gear could result
Who has overall responsibility for ensuring the tow operation is completed safely?
tow supervisor
Where should a wing walker position himself?
Wing walkers will maintain a position forward of the direction of travel of wing tip, no more than 15 feet forward, aft, or outboard of wingtip and maintain a direct line of sight with the tow team supervisor
Where should a tail walker be?
Tail walkers will maintain a direct line of sight with tow supervisor and maintain a position aft area of the aircrat that allows the best possible view of obstructions
Do not tow without what installed in the steering metering valve?
steering bypass key

What should the reserve brake pressure not fall below while the aircraft is moving?
3,000 psi

when should wing and tail walkers notify the tow supervisor of obstructions?
within 15 feet of any obstruction
Who has authorization to stop a tow?
Anybody
How many brake applications do you have with the reserve brakes?
three
What should the reserve brake pressure not fall below while the aircraft is moving?
3,000 psi
What happens if you pressurize the reserve brake past 3,100 psi?
the brake overpressure relief valves will release pressure at approx 3,400 psi and dump overboard.
What should the brake operator do if the TLTV loses braking capability?
apply the brakes as slowly as possible, while ensuring a complete slow stop of the airraft while using the max distance available.
How should the brake operator exit the aircraft if towing with the TLTV?
the pilots or copilots windows or over wing emergency exit hatch
don’t turn the nose gear past what limit markings?
45 degrees
What shear bolts are you to use if they fail in the tow bar?
do not use higher strength than PN AN7 shear bolts
Why should you tow the aircraft in a straight line after a turn?
To relieve main landing gear loads
When can you perform over the shoulder towing?
only while making minor changes
If towing with the TLTV, do what if either OVER STEER indicator light illuminates?
immediately steer in the opposite direction to avoid over stressing the NLG
What happens if the nose shock strut is extended beyond 11 inches?
the tow bar shear bolts may fail and damage to the centering cam and strut may occur
How many hours is a tire pressure check good for?
72 hours
If towing an aircraft into a hangar pull what circuit breakers?
APU 1, APU 2, Valve Cont 1, Valve Cont 2
If QSAS is used, what circuit breaker is pulled?
Outboard anti-skid
If QSAS is not used, what circuit breaker is pulled?
P83 BUS and AUX Switched DC Bus / P100 after TCTO 1547
Personnel will not approach tow bar until vehicle is withing how many inches of tow bar?
6 inches
