Key idea:
People are able to travel and can do so more frequently (because it is more affordable now)

Point : Increasing leisure time has led to increasing demand for travel
Key Idea : People are able to travel (because they have the time to do so)

- In many DCs and LDCs, since the 1950s people in all income groups have enjoyed shorter working weeks, more public holidays, and more annual paid leave
- this increased the availability of leisure time, allowing more people to travel.

- Increased investment in building and maintaining places of attraction continues to make it attractive to travellers

Attractions include a wide range of facilities and luxury outlets, MICE facilities and luxury hotels, and large scale architectural and engineering projects
- Famous attractions include the Burh Al Arab, a seven star luxury hotel built on an artificial island, and the Palm Islands, the world’s largest artificial islands or high-end residential, leisure and entertainment facilities

- Southeast Asia experience rapid growth in international tourist arrivals in the last three decades, hence airport development has been rapid. Therefore, Changi Airport, Singapore, opened Terminal 4 in 2017 to increase the capacity to manage more aircrafts and passangers
- Hong Kong added 49 hotels between 2012 and 2016 to accommodate the potential rise in visitors from 42 to 70 million annual visitors

Point : Access to information has made destinations more attractive to travellers
Key Idea : People are willing to travel (because they feel confident of travelling around without much difficulty; they can travel around easily because they have sufficient information to do so)
Expaination :
- Tourists are more attracted to destinations where information can be easily obtained, such as transport routes, weather conditions, schedules, and accomodation
- The information must also be in a language that the travellers can understand

Point : DIsasters can cause tourism acitivty to decline
