7
Q

Why do we want them out of hospital quickly?

Q

Exercises 1 day post op (TKA)?

A
  • Ankle pumps (prevent DVT)
  • Deep breathing (collapsed lungs & lung infection risk)
  • Coughing
  • AAROM
  • Isometrics (less stressful, wakes muscles up)

Q

Maximum protection phase goals TKA?

0-4 weeks

A
  • Prevent vascular/pulmonary complications
  • Control pain & swelling
  • Protect joint (pivot & kneeling damage prosthesis, wear & tear)
  • MAINTAIN or improve LE strength
  • Regain knee ROM (0-90+)

16
Q

Moderate protection phase goals TKA?

4-8 weeks

A
  • INCREASE strength & endurance (knee & hip muscles)
  • No quads lag (grade 3 min extensor strength)
  • Improve standing balance & trunk stability
  • Increase knee ROM (0-110)
17
Q

Minimum protection phase goals TKA?

8+ weeks

A
  • TASK SPECIFIC strengthening
  • Posture & balance training
  • Cardiopulmonary conditioning
  • Maximum knee flexion ROM (120-125)
18
Q

Life threatening complication following Total Knee Arthroplasy?

A

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

19
Q

Genu Valgum (knock kneed) is commonly associated with?

A

Osteoarthritis

20
Q

A tri-component TKA involved replacement of which bones?

A

Tibia
Femur
Patella
