Toxoplasmosis
Etiologies:
Cat Feces
Uncooked pork or lamb
S/sx:
Usually asymptomatic
Lymphadenopathy (rare)
Complications:
TRIAD- chorioretinitis, hydrocephalus, intracranial calcifications
Parvovirus B19
Fetal complications: Anemia Hydrop fetalis if infected in first half of pregnancy
If fetus survives: No permanent defects or malformations
Varicella Zoster Virus
Fetal complication: Congenital Varicella Syndrome
-Low birth weight
-Limb atrophy
-Microcephaly
Prevention: Vaccine
Listeria
Consumption of unpasteurized dairy products and deli meats
Maternal Sx:
-Fever
-Fatigue
-Gastroenteritis
-Amnionitis
-Sepsis
Fetal complications:
-Spontaneous abortion
-Stillbirth
Fetal Survival:
-Sepsis
-Meningitis
Rubella
R/F:
-Non-vaccinated
-Immigrants
Fetal Complications:
TRIAD- deafness, cataracts, PDA (Congenital heart defect)
CMV
Etiology:
-Sexual Contact
-Organ Transplant
Maternal Symptoms:
-Asymptomatic
-Mono-like symptoms
Fetal Complications:
-Blueberry muffin (rash)
-Petechiae
- Deafness
-Chorioretinitis
-Seizures
-Microcephaly Periventricular (Intellectual disability)
HSV-2
Fetal Complications:
-Vesicular skin lesions: eyelid margins, scalp, oral mucosa
-Meningoencephalitis: lethargy, irritability, seizures
