What is a topographic map?
A map that shows changes in elevation on earth’s surface
What shows steepness of a slope on a topographic map?
Closeness of the lines
How do you determine the direction a river is flowing?
The point of the “V/U” points uphill or upstream
How can you identify a hill?
hill is empty, closed line
What is weathering and erosion?
The breaking down of rocks, soils, and minerals through water, ice, wind, etc.
How do you determine the contour interval of a topographic map?
- Subtract two closest index contours 2. Divide that number by the number of spaces between the index contours
