2
Q

Where is the site of penetration for the ASA?

A

Facial vestibule over lateral incisor slightly angled towards the apex of the cuspid.

Feel for the prominence of the canine, go mesial, and it is right in that dip.

Q

Where is the site of penetration for the MSA?

A

Facial vestibule between the maxillary bicuspids; over remaining bicuspid if one is missing.

Feel for the zygomatic arch, move finger mesially, until you feel the depression.

8
Q

Where is the site of penetration for the PSA?

A

Facial vestibule distal to zygomatic arch (opposite of the distal buccal root near the maxillary 2nd molar) 45 degrees to the occlusal plane, 45-90 degrees to midsagittal plane, far enough laterally in the vestibule to avoid hitting the bone.

9
Q

Which anatomy is anesthetized by the PSA?

A

Maxillary 3rd, 2nd, and 1st molars excluding the MB root of the first molars. The buccal gingiva will also be anesthetized.

Q

Where is the site of penetration for the greater palatine?

A

Halfway between the palatal midline and the free gingival margin anterior to the soft palate between maxillary first and second molars. Come from the opposite canine/same arch.

16
Q

Which anatomy is anesthetized by the IAN?

A

Mandibular teeth on that side to the midline and buccal gingiva distal of the bicuspids to the midline.

17
Q

Where is the site of penetration for the lingual nerve?

A

It is the same injection site as the IAN however, withdraw the needle 1/2 way from depth of the IAN.

18
Q

Which anatomy is anesthetized by the lingual nerve?

A

The lingual gingiva to the midline and the anterior 2/3 of the tongue to the midline.

19
Q

Where is the site of penetration for the long buccal?

A
  1. 1cm above the occlusal plane medial to the external oblique ridge.
  2. In the facial vestibule at the level of the buccal cusps - just distal to the last molar.
20
Q

Which anatomy is anesthetized by the long buccal?

A

Buccal gingiva of the mandibular molars and the cheek adjacent to the mandibular molar teeth.

21
Q

Where is the site of penetration for the mental?

A

Facial vestibule just distal to the mental foramen.

22
Q

Which anatomy is anesthetized by the mental?

A

Teeth anterior to the mental foramen (premolars, canine, and incisors on the one side). Buccal mucosa anterior to the mental foramen as well as the lower lip and skin of the chin on the corresponding side.
