The data collected by you. (From the first hand)
What is secondary data?
The data is already there. Made by someone else. ( from second hands)
Positivists
See sociology as a science.
Use quantitative data.
Likes experiments.
Like their research to be reliable and representative.
Interpretivists
Prefer qualitative data.
Not scientific.
Like interviews.
Their value validity.
Quantitative data
Numerical data (statistics etc)

Descriptive data ( more objective questions)
Validity
How truthful your data to society
Reliability
How easy is it to repeat the research and get the same results.
Sampling
Group of people that you studying.
Stratified sample
The division of a population into smaller sub-groups.
Random sample
Everyone has equal chance to be selected.
Quasi-random sample
Every nth person is selected.
Quota sample
Involving individuals that represent a population( people have characteristics that you need)
Snowball sample
When participants tell to friend, the friend to his friend.
Opportunity sample
Available person can be selected.
