Topic one-forces and motion(YEAR 9) Flashcards
what is Newtons first law?
an object remains in the same state of motion unless a resultant force acts on it.->if no resultant force a stationary object remains stationary or moving object continues to move at the same velocity.
Inertia
Tendency for an object to continue in its current state(at rest or in uniform motion).
Inertial mass is a measure of how difficult it is to change the velocity of an object.Ratio of force over acceleration
Newtons second law
F=MxA acceleration is proportional to resultant force but inversly proportional to mass.
Newtons 3rd law
When two objects react the forces they exert on eachother are equal and opposite. When two objects interact the force moving one way is equal to the opposite way.Things move due to different masses.f=mxa
