Definition of Ethical Decision-Making
The process of critical reflection, evaluation, and judgment through which a practitioner resolves ethical issues, problems, and dilemmas
What are Ethical issues
Individual rights and welfare
Public welfare
Equality, difference and structural oppression
Professional roles boundaries and relationships
What are Ethical Problems
A situation is interpreted as involving a difficult moral decision. But the course of action is clear.
What are Ethical Dilemmas
Faces a choice between to equally unwelcome alternatives.
Conflict of moral values
And is not clear which choice will be the right one

The Inclusive Models four essential platforms
Platform One: Accountability- the ability to make the decision that can be clearly articulated and justified.Taking into account personal, professional, organisational, legal, cultural and social context.
Platform Two: Critical reflection- Make decisions that can be scruntised by others, clarify practice and lead to better practice in the future.
Platform Three Cultural sensitivity- decisions that are culturally appropriate Different value positions and drawing on cultural expertise.
Platform Four Consultation- Use resources wisely and engage in appropriate discussions with others who may assist in accountability, cultural sensitivity, and personal reflection.
Steps in defining an ethical dilemma
Step One: Defining the ethical dilemma- Can I clearly define competing ethical principles in this situation.
Step Two: Mapping legitimacy- who has the legitimately in this situation who should be included/excluded in this decision
Step Three: Gathering Information- Policy, procedures, and protocols, people and lessons from the past
Accountability

Cultural sensitivity.
Step Four: Alternate approaches and action- Weighing up options and alternatives, who do this becme proitised the reliance on ethical theory and moral frameworks.
Step Five: Critical Analysis and evaluation- asking questions concerning knowledge gained, confidence built. Impact on self and practice.

Knowledge about:

Ethical decision-making models and development of one that suits your style
How to conduct an ethical audit within an organisation to determine the area of potential risk.
Consult, seek information from people and use support
The use of important documents relevant codes of ethics, policies and protocols, legislation, or at least knowledge of how to access these
