Meant to help the Byzantine Empire free themselves form the Turks.

What were some non-religious goals of the Crusades?
People became wealthy when they left the feudal system and so they stayed on the Holy Land
Knights and Peasants, the two oppressed groups in the feudal system, were able to leave their position in feudalism
The kings and lords were too occupied by the Crusades, the Pope did not have to worry about any of them revolting.

Islamic groups, the Turks, still controlled the Holy Land
Tensions between Christians and Muslims started
How did the Crusades help break up Feudalism?
People, like knights and peasants left their land and so there were not enough people to have a working feudalism society, so it crumbled.
How did the crusades bring eastern culture to Europe?
It simulated trade and culture exchanges.
