Q

What is the visible light spectrum ?

8
Q

how is the colour of an obaque object determined

A
  • which wavelengths of light are most strongly reflected ( the rest of wavelengths are absorbed )

Q

why do obaque objects appear black?

A

because they don’t reflect any light and absorb all wavelngths of light

Q

objects & infrared radiation

A

-all objects emit and absorb IR.
- the hotter the object is the more IR the object emits

13
Q

surroundings & infrared radiation

A
  • if an object is hotter than its surroundings than it will emit more IR than it absorbs, and so its temperature falls
  • vice versa
  • if an object is at a constant temperature it wil emit/absorb IR at same rate

Q

convex lenses

A

lens that causes rays of light to converge together

17
Q

concave lenses

A

lens that causes rays of light to diverge ( spread out )r

18
Q

real images

A

when the light rays come together to form an image

19
Q

virtual images

A

when the light rays from a point on an object are diverging so the light from the point on the object appears to be coming from a different place

20
Q

focal point

A

where rays parallel to the axis meet
