A

Allele - different version of a gene
Genotype - combination of alleles
Homozygous - when both the alleles are the same
Heterozygous - where the two alleles are different
Dominant always expressed over the recessive
Phenotype - characteristics you receive from your genotype

What are genes and alleles?

A

Genes are sections of DNA which codes for a particular polypeptide needed to produce a characteristic. They exist in two or more forms called alleles. Only one allele of a gene can occur at the locus of any one chromosome.
