Topic 6B: The Specific Immune Response Flashcards
1
Q
What is the specific immune response?
A
It is antigen-specific - produces a response targeted to specific pathogens and involves t and b cells
2
Q
What is a T- Cell and what are the different types?
A
- A type of white Bood Cell covered with receptors.
- T-helper, T-Killer T-Memory cells
3
Q
How do phagocytes activate T-cells?(4)
A
- T- cells have different shaped receptors
- Complimentary receptor binds to antigen on APC macrophage.
- T-cell activated
- activated T-cell divides producing clones of itself
4
Q
What is the Role of the T helper cell?
A
To release substances to activate B cells T killer cells and macrophages
5
Q
What is the Role of the T killer cell?
A
To attach to antigens on pathogen-infected cells and destroy them
6
Q
What is a B-cell?
A
A type of white blood cell covered in antibodies
