Q

What does high pressure do to the rate of equilibrium

A

High pressure favour the side with fewer molecules, therefore it will favour the forward reaction in the Haber process. Pressure is set higher to increase rate of attainment of yield

Q

Explain temperature used in the Haber process

A

High temperatures favour the endothermic reaction therefore it will not favour the forward reaction. To increase yield, lower temperatures are used. However, low temperature means a low rate of reaction so a compromise temperautre is used.
