Actors

Adjourning Stage
Stage where teams disband when their work is finished
Boundary Spanning
Developing relationships that cross boundaries within or outside the organization
Bridging Network
A network in which you are connected to people who aren’t connected to one another
Brokering Network
A network connecting disparate groups of people so that access to goods, services, or information is enabled
Centralized Communication Network
Network where communication flows only between individual members and a hub, or center point
Clique
Group comprised of three or more actors all connected to each other
Clusters
Subgroups of actors who are tied together because they have similar traits or characteristics
Cohesive Network
Network in which the people you are connected to are connected to one another
Cohesiveness
The degree to which members are attracted to a group and motivated to remain part of it
Collective Intelligence
Shared intelligence that emerges when a group of people work together in a collaborative way
Committee
Group designated to work on a special task on a continuing basis
Consensus
Group decision that has the expressed support of most members
Contagion Effect
A spread of emotion across a group or network
Cross-Functional Team
Team that operates with members who come from different functional units of an organization

Those that leave people feeling drained, unhappy, and demotivated

The tendency for diversity in groups to create process difficulties even as it offers improved potential for problem solving

Connection between two people in a network
Echo Chamber
Occurs when the same beliefs or perspectives are amplified and reinforced in a social network
Effective Team
A team that achieves high levels of task performance, member satisfaction, and future viability
Energizing Network
A network where connections to others are fulfilling, fun, and motivating
Equivalence
Represents the extent to which the amount of what is given back is roughly the same as what was recieved

An action contingent upon a rewarding reaction

Ties characterized by friendship, kinship, and social support
FIRO-B Theory
Theory that identifies differences in how people relate to one another in groups based on their needs to express and receive feelings of inclusion, control, and affection

The tendency to form networks with those who are similar to you
