Topic 4. Pathology reactivity. Violations of immunological reactivity. Flashcards
1
Q
Give the definition of reactivity in relation to the immune system
A
Reactivity is an ability of an organism to change its activity and develop reactions (mainly adaptive) in response to normal and pathogenic influences
2
Q
Give the types of reactivity and give some examples
A
Molecular - enzyme activity
Cellular - phagocytosis, mast cell degranulation
Tissue - connective tissue reaction in inflammation
Organ - changes in heart rate
Physiological systems - raising arterial blood pressure
Organism as a whole - muscle hypertrophy
Population - passive immunity to infants via breastmilk
