2- ACT FAST, don’t panic and ensure everyone is safe

Promoting recovery- seek help, don’t levee patient until help arrives and a effective hand over occurs

how many chest compressions are required?
- if patient is unresponsive what does the first aider need to do?
- what is the routine that three needs to happen?
- if accessible, what piece of equipment can be used during resuscitation?
- 30 chest compressions
- give rescue breathes
- 30 comp, 2 breathes, 30, 2 … until causally is responsive

recovery position:
explain the 6 steps
- kneel next to casualty, check for any sharp items in pockets
- left arm stretched out, palm facing upwards
- bring other arm across chest. back of hand on check
- furthest knee up, foot flat on the floor
- role them towards you, knee at 90* angle
- ensure head it tilted back to allow as much air into airways as possible
