People should feel safe in the community, in public spaces

Punishments should reflect the severity of the crime The more severe the crime, the harsher the sentence This provides a sense of justice to the victim and the community

Deterrence

youth diversion
Youth diversion means a consequence that prevents a youngster from
progressing through, being dealt with by the criminal justice system. but they must acknowledge what they did wrong.
-must be first time defender
what youth diversion does
-accept responsibility for their actions
-sent to complete programs that are appropriate to their
circumstances and address the reasons behind their offending
-designed to the
individual circumstances of the accused and the offending.
