Topic 3.5: Fast electron transfer kinetcs Flashcards
1
Q
- How can we measure fast electron transfer kinetics?
A
- Small electrodes give reversible diffusion profiles that are diffusion controlled.

2
Q
- How does the CSV change at a macroelectrode with increasing ko
A

3
Q
- How do ionic strength conditions affect the size of the DL and voltammetric response at a ME?
A
- Without background electrolyte, an increase in double layer size results in mass transfer being migration (as well as diffusion) controlled.
- Ions moving through DL will experience electrostatic effects.
- Resulting CSV has a smaller second wave as due to drop in ionic strength to make DL bigger and therefore higher migration contribution.
