Topic 3: Foam Fire Extingisher Challenge! Flashcards
What test is used for detecting Oxygen?
When a flame is exposed to Oxygen, the flame will burn brighter.
How do we calculate the average rate of a reaction?
Divide the change in the property measured by the time taken.
What test is used for detecting Hydrogen?
When a lit splint is dropped in Hydrogen, it is burnt with a ‘pop’.
What test is used for detecting Carbon Dioxide?
When a lit splint is exposed to Carbon Dioxide, the flame with be extinguished.
How does increasing the surface area, concentration or temperature of a substance affect a reaction?
The reaction speed will be increased, due to more particles being exposed, more reactant particles being crammed into a smaller space and making the particles more faster and with more energy, respectively.
What will happen to a line graph showing rate of reaction’s curve when the speed is increased?
The line will become steeper, due to a faster reaction.
