Federal Rules of Evidence
Federal rules by which submitting evidence in courts is governed - this is in court
Discovery
Period of time where both sides take to investigate - purpose is to gather information outside of court
Demonstrable (E)
diagram, chart, re-enactment, doll, etc.
Documentary (E)
Photograph, video, etc.
Real (E)
Actual item - gun, etc.
Testimonial (E)
Lay witnesses
Hearsay (E)
An out of court statement made to identify/prove the truth of the matter asserted
Depositions (D)
Involves questioning witnesses under oath, usually outside of court, with a transcript being produced and used as evidence during the trial
Subpoenas (D)
Legal documents that compel someone to provide documents, records, or testimony. The nature of the evidence depends on what is subpoenaed (e.g., documents, tangible evidence, or testimony)
Interrogatories (D)
Written questions sent by one party to the other, which must be answered in writing and under oath
