When the Black Death happened what were Jews viewed as
They Jews were viewed as Christian killers who were interested in cannibalism and infacide(killing babies)

Why did the Jews have these jobs and not catholics? What impact did this have on Jews
It associated Jews with bad jobs to make people dislike then with people not wanting to give money away. The catholics were not aloud to do the jobs, making Jews have to do the jobs. This rose the antisemitism on Jews and dislike became very strong
How could the church get away with killing people?
Before reformation church and state were connected so it was hard to tell the difference between the two. Catholic bishops installed emperors and kings. The same emperors and kings then protected the church and its ministers so rebelling against the church was like rebelling against the king
What was the inquisition/ why was the inquisition set up?
The inquisition was set up within the Catholic Church to root out and punish heresy throughout Europe and the americas.
How long did the inquisition last
Beginning in the 12th century and continuing for hundreds of years (around 600 years) the inquisition is infamous for the severity of its tortures and its persecution of Jews and Muslims.
Where did the inquisition happen the worst
Its worst manifestation was in Spain where the Spanish Inquisition lasted for more than 200 years, resulting in over 32,000 executions.
Why did the inquisition happen in Spain and who set it up
About 200,000 Jews lived in Spain. The king and queen, Ferdinand and Isabella thought the Jews were a danger. And so, they began a campaign against them.
There was also many Muslims in Spain. The kingdom of Granada. Was ruled by the Muslim moors.
Ferdinand and Isabella were worried that the moors would join with the Muslim Ottoman Empire and stop there trade.
They wanted the land and wealth of Granada and also get rid of the Muslims and jews
Who was Tomas de Torquemada
Infamous inquisitor general. He was appointed by king and queen of Spain. Torquemada was a Dominican friar (monk). He served as confessor to queen Isabella. Over 100,000 people were sentenced to death as heretics under his jurisdiction
What is flogging
Victims would be publicly tied to a pillar there hands bound,and they would be whipped
What was burning at the stake
Dry hay or wood with the stake in the middle person tied to the stake. The would and hay would be set on fire. 30 mins for you to pass out. If wind was blowing fire away it would take 2 hours to die
What is the rack
Tied down while a mechanism is attached to you and they would turn the crank and your limbs were pulled and pulled until dislocated and then ripped out your body.
What was roasting feet over hot Coals
This was a toucher method where the victim would have there legs bound by a âstockâ and then their feet burned with hot coals.

Torcher method where hands were tied behind the back and theyâd be lifted off the ground by a rope tied around the wrists

Tied to a rack, head lower than rest of body. Mouth forced open and water would be forced into the mouth. The victim would risk suffocating if they didnât âconfessâ
