What is the principle of moments?

Answer 1

• For an object to be in equilibrium
• The sum of clockwise moments about a pivot
• Must be equal to the sum of anticlockwise moments abput the same point

Question 2

Describe the motion of an object whilst referring to Newton’s laws.

Answer 2

• If force is being applied to an object, then an equal but opposite force is also acting on it (3rd law)
• A resultant force has been applied so the object begins to acelerate because of 2nd law
• The less massive object will accelerate quicker as F=ma
