-USSR was growing stronger in the cold war they had their own nuclear weapons

what is the USSR ?

what is capitalism?
a system in which businesses are owned by private individuals with the aim of making profit
what was the cold war ?
a state of tension and conflict stopping short of open warfare between the usa and its allie’s (the west) and the ussr and its allie’s (the east)
what is communism ?
a system which the state controls production and there is no private property with the aim of equality
what is nationalism ?
love for your own country, putting your country above everything else
what was the united nations ?
it was set up to help countries work out tensions between them, the UN security council was made up of the usa, britain, france, china and the ussr
what was the security council of the united nations ?
it made decisions about what the UN should do to help solve disputes between countries
how did the cold war begin ?
- at the end of ww2 the capitalist countries disagreed with the ussr over what to do with war recasted countries
- britain and usa wanted to help nations recover quickly to return to a time of peace
- usa was willing to pay huge amounts of money for recovery - marshall plan
- stalin wanted to keep germany weak and keep soviet troops inside european countries he invaded during war
- ussr claimed countries and controlled them under stalin directly or his influence
- communists took over bulgaria hungary and poland
- germany was divided into 2 soviets controlling east part and France britain and usa controlling the west
