Topic 10 - Equilibrium Flashcards
1
Q
Defiition of Dynamic Equilibrium
A
Dynamic equilibrium occurs when the forward and backward reaction are occuring at the same rate. The concentrations of he reactancts and the products stay constant and the reaction is contnuous.
2
Q
Equation for Kc
A
Kc = [C]^x [D]^y / [A]^m [B]^n
3
Q
How to calculate Kc (4 Steps)
A
- Write equation
- Draw table to amount of moles used
- Calculate concentration at equilibrium ( conc = moles/vol)
- Plug in values to equiation.
4
Q
Equation for Partial Pressure
A
PP = Mole fraction * total pressure
5
Q
Eqation for mole fraction
A
Number of moles of a gas / Total number of moles of all gases
6
Q
Equation for Kp
A
Kp = p NH3^2 / p N2 p^3H2
7
Q
Effetcs on Kc and Kp
A
Kc and Kp only chnage with temperature.
The larger the Kc the greater the products. If Kc stays small we say the equilibrium favours the reactants.
