Who is Jesus?
Jesus is the son of God and the founder of Christianity
What does gospel mean?
It means Good news
What job did Luke have and why was this useful?
Luke was a doctor. He never met Jesus, but met many who did. Being a doctor was useful because it meant he was used to investigating things carefully.
What job did Matthew have and why was this useful ?
He was a tax collector and this was useful because he was used to keeping accurate records
What are the three geographical sections of Israel ?
The coastal plain, the central highlands and the Jordan valley

What are the three political districts of Israel?
Galilee, Samaria and finally Jerusalem

A close friend of Peter. He was a teenager when Jesus died. His mother’s house was often used by Jesus in Jerusalem.
Who was John?
Brother of John. He was a fisherman and a very close friend of Jesus.

How did Mary know she was going to give birth to Jesus?
The angel Gabriel told her she would become pregnant & give birth to a son who would be great and would be known as the Son of God.
Why was Mary surprised?
Because she was a virgin. The angel told her the Holy Spirit would enable her to conceive.
How did Joseph react when he heard that Mary was pregnant.
He was going to divorce her but then he had a dream where an angel told him that the Holy Spirit had enabled Mary to conceive.
What did the angel tell Joseph to call the baby and what does it mean?
Jesus which means saviour

Where did Mary and Joseph have to go to register and why did they have to go there?
Bethlehem because
Joseph was a descendant of King David and Bethlehem was his birthplace.

What did she place Jesus in and what was this?
A manger which is an animal’s feeding trough
Who were the first visitors to see Jesus and how did they know it was him?
The shepherds
An angel told them a saviour had been born in Bethlehem and they would find him in a manger wrapped in strips of cloth
Who else visited Jesus, how did they find him and what did they bring
Magi or men who studied the stars. They were considered wise. They followed a bright star which they believed signalled the birth of a new king. They brought gifts of Gold, Frankincense an Myrrh.
Where did the magi go first before they found Jesus and why did they go there?
To the palace in Jerusalem because they thought the new king would be found there
Who was the king at the time of Jesus birth?
Herod
What did Herod do when the magi came looking for the new king?
He consulted his religious experts who told him that a saviour king was prophesied to be born in Bethlehem
He told the magi to find the baby and report back to him.
Why did the magi not report back to Herod when they found Jesus?
They had a dream warning them not to
When the magi did not report back to Herod what did he do?
Sent soldiers to Bethlehem to kill all the children under the age of 2
