What does affinity mean?
The followers of a lord, men who served him whenever needed or worked for him as lawyers or estate managers.
What does livery mean?
Badge and colours of a lord worn by his servants.
What does patronage mean?
A lord provided patronage by giving rewards (jobs, money, influence, titles etc.) to his supporters and protected them (in court or through the use of force) from rivals after their land and property.
