Environmental worldview that shapes an everyone percieves+ evaluate enviro issues- influence how they act within the enviro
Influences on perspectives
Scientific understandings, religion, law, local + global events, lived experiences, economic conditions, sociocultural norms, beliefs, values
Ecocentric
Centered around nature- emphasizes less materialistic approach to life
Anthropocentric
Saying humans= best tools to solve problems rather than relying on enviro to fix itself. Use- taxes, legislation, enviro regulation
Technocentric
Assuming all environmental problems can be fixed through technology- trying to understand how systems can be controlled and manipulated
Sociocultural norms
Community rules determining appropriate behaviors + values - since humans are social- they are often most important influence
e.g. saying ‘please’
Scientific understanding
Perspectives based on knowledge of the world
Acquired from education, media, community, experiences
Laws
Change observed behaviors - alter our perspectives
Religion
Human culture- shapes what people think or see of the world
Many acknowledge need of looking after the world
Economic conditions
Weak economy + high unemployment= ppl prioritize economic growth.
Campains
Gov and non-gov organizations (NGOs)- imagery to shock consumers+ businesses to change behavior
Demographics
Characteristics of a countries pop= size, age structure, ratio men/women.
Local+ global events
Stories abt changing environments+ human experiences
Specific lived experiences
Individual experiences- more ppl experience bad impacts bcz of climate change= more willingness to act
Grazing land
Livestock allows to feed on grass and forage (biomass)
Nomads
Wander and explore+ find food and resources along the way
Agrarian
Choose a spot try to start to make a community at the spot
