What is an element
A substance made up of only one type of atom
Where can all the elements be found
On the periodic table
The elements can be separated into two groups what are they
Metals and non-metals
Where is the zigzag line in the periodic table
Under Boron moving down each time
What is the first group called
The Alkali metals
Name 3 properties of a metal
Good conductor of heat Good conductor of electricity Tough Shiny inside Sonorous
What is the difference between a compound and a mixture
Compounds are chemically combined so are harder to separate whilst mixtures are not
Give 4 observations of Alkali metals reacting with water
They bubble Give off heat Fizz around the bowl May produce flame or smoke Float Moves
Group one elements have similar properties when they react with water. They all react with water to produce …………. gas.
Hydrogen
What colour flame does lithium burn
Red/pink
