Domestic Tourism?
Tourists travelling within their own country. They also have to stay in a place overnight or they are considered a day visitor instead of a tourist.
Inbound Tourist
People who are entering a different country that their place of residence for the purposes of tourism making 25 billion to the Uk economy. E.g. a Spanish tourist is Inbound to the Uk.
Outbound Tourist
People leaving their own country to travel to a different one for the purpose of tourism. E.g. a French tourist is Outbound from France.
What does the (UNWTO) stand for?

Types of Travel and Tourism Customers?
Individual and Couples, Families, Corporate travelers, Groups, Customers with specific requirements
Leisure Tourism definition?
Tourists who travel for their own pleasure or enjoyment, or to take a relaxing holiday. City breaks and Stag and Hen parties are popular forms of leisure travel.
Corporate Travel definition?
When someone travels at the extent of their business to attend meetings, training, short-term work in a different country from their own residence and incentive travel gifted to an employee for reaching targets or for an extremely good performance in their job.
Specialist Travel Definition?
Tourist who travel for a particular reason e.g to learn a sport or a honeymoon. They will often choose tour operators who specialized in providing their interest e.g. rock climbing.
VFR Definition?
Tourists who are visiting friends and relatives. They are usually leisure travelers however they may be also visiting the area for other reasons such as business. They make up 4% of the UK tourists and spent contributed 15% of to the tourism company largely due to their longer stays of 10 days on average.
Day Trips Definition?
Day trips do not include overnight stays and are usually visiting a specific place for the day such as a shopping mall or amusement park. They are not counted as tourists due to not staying overnight.
Individual/Couples Customer?
A small group travelling alone or with another person. They may require a thing like a single room and would be expected to pay supplement because of this. They will also want to ability to some alone time or join tours and activities to meet other people.
Families customer?
Families provide a lot of money to the tourism economy so are highly desired. However, there are many different families who would preferred different holidays e.g. young children vs teenagers. They need entertainment which is suitable for them all to enjoy such as children’s clubs and special meals.
Groups Customers?
A group of people all visiting for a common purpose such as a school group, special interest group and friendship group. However, it is important to remember them as individuals and may have specific needs or preferences influence by factors such as age.
Corporate travelers Customer?
Due to being funded by their company, they favor convenience often flying at peak times and requiring internet on transportation so will be less concerned about value for money making them a very profitable market.
