Q

Tell me about the bud stage.

A

Proliferation of dental lamina into a small, rounded structure overlying an area of condensed CT

Q

Tell me about the cap stage.

A

Further growth of bud

Becomes indented, and covers the CT called the dental papilla

Cells of the cap are differentiated into 4 layers

Q

Tell me about the bell stage.

A

Growth of enamel organ into a bell-shaped structure w/ 4 distinct layers overlying the dental papilla that has the shape or outline of the future tooth

Q

Tell me about the apposition stage

A

Formation of crown by dentingenesis and amelogenesis w/ deposition of dentin protein - collagen - and enamel protein - amelogenin - and the beginning of calcification

**Ameloblasts from the IEE induce adjacent cells fo the dental papilla to become odontoblasts that then produce the dentin matrix when in turn induces the preameloblasts to become ameloblasts that produce enamel matrix

Q

Tell me about the maturation stage.

A

Crown completion by further deposition of the enamel and dentin and completion of calcification at the cervical area

An extension of the IEE and OEE forming a bilayered root sheath that induces the formation of the root

Q

Tell me about the root formation and eruption stage.

A

Root forms as the tooth erupts

Root sheath induces odontoblasts to form root dentin and then it disintegrates allowing cells from the dental follicle to become cementoblasts and contribute to the formation of cementum and PDL

Q

What is the enamel organ?

A

Arises from oral ectoderm and dental lamina and will form enamel

Develops different layers in the cap and bell stages

Q

What is the dental papilla?

A

Arises form ectomesenchyme

Condensed zone of cells beneath enamel organ
-THIS WILL FORM DENTIN AND PULP
